Here are two steps to take after hiring an office cleaning team.
Show them which desks require the most attention
In as diplomatic a manner as possible (so as not to offend the desk occupants), you should show the cleaners which desks in the office require extra attention. If, for example, some of your hardest-working staff members who have very demanding workloads tend to let their desks fall into disarray because they're so busy or, when rushing around, have a tendency to spill drinks on their desks, then you might need to tell the cleaners to spend more time sanitising these desks than they do the other ones.
Similarly, if there are office workers who often work through their lunch breaks and eat at their desks, then you might need to tell the cleaners to pay extra attention when mopping or hoovering up the floor in these areas to ensure that food debris is removed. If the cleaners will be present during the day when the office is occupied, you might also want to tell them to check and empty the bins by these desks more often than they do the bins beside the other desks.
Show them any areas you'd prefer they didn't clean
If there are sections of your office that you'd like to keep off-limits to the cleaners, then you should make your preferences clear right away. For example, if you have your own private office room on the premises and like to clean it in a specific way with your favourite cleaning products, then you might prefer to clean this space yourself.
Likewise, if there is a room in which you store extremely important client documents, you might not want this cleaned in case some cleaning fluids get spilled on this paperwork. Whilst office cleaners are very careful when working near files, paperwork and office equipment, accidental spillages like this can still happen (for example, a bottle of glass cleaner could spring a leak and drip all over some important documents). Alternatively, if you don't want them to completely neglect these areas, you could simply ask them to only use dry or very lightly dampened cloths in these areas and to never bring full bottles of any cleaning fluids near them. This should ensure that the cleaning of these sections does not lead to the paperwork getting ruined.
